At the close of EMO 2011 there was great interest and audience participation. Dr. Wilfried Schäfer, Executive Director of the German Machine Tool Builders’ Association (VDW), the organizer of the event stated that “the order volume reached a minimum of €4.5 billion”. A great result. Over 50% of visitors reported visiting EMO 2011 with concrete investment plans. Sign that the crisis worries less and less in the industry.
2,037 exhibitors from 41 different nations participated this year. There was an increase than in previous years of foreign visitors, coming from countries outside Europe, such as Asia and South America. A trend that seems to confirm the importance of these countries, increasingly influential on the European market.
Many conferences and meetings discussed the increased flexibility and simplicity of the machines and the environmental impact for sustainable production. The aerospace industry caught the attention on newer and more advanced technologies. A great success.
